It is useful treatment of febrifuge, in splenic enlargements, anemia, typhoid, chlorea, biliousness and bronchitis lowers bowels, increases peristaltic movements of the colon by its local action upon the intestinal wall. It is used as expectorant, wound dresser, antidysentric, carminative and laxative.
